Troubleshooting
Touch does nothing
- Confirm both permissions are granted in System Settings → Privacy & Security: Accessibility and Input Monitoring.
- Relaunch the app after granting — macOS only applies grants to a fresh process.
- Make sure the right display is selected and the panel is plugged into a data port (some USB-C hubs drop the HID interface).
A previously working build stopped responding
macOS ties grants to the app’s signing identity. An ad-hoc build changes identity on every rebuild, so the grant no longer matches. Remove the stale entry in Privacy & Security, then grant the new build and relaunch. Signed (Developer ID) builds don’t have this problem.
Gestures feel wedged — even on the built-in trackpad
A gesture sequence that began but never received its ended phase can wedge the
macOS recognizer system-wide until the process exits.
Quit and relaunch Gatecaster to clear it. The engine guards every transition out of a gesture state to prevent this, but a crash mid-gesture can still leave one open.
The cursor maps to the wrong screen
Open the menu bar → re-run Pick display, then tap the number shown on your touchscreen. Selection is stored by display UUID, so once it’s right it stays right across reboots.
Calibration drifts
Re-run calibration from the menu bar and tap the four corners precisely. Calibration is stored in raw panel coordinates, so it’s independent of the display you mapped to.
Still stuck?
Email [email protected] with your macOS version and panel model, and — if you can — a device dump.
