Getting started
Gatecaster ships as a menu-bar accessory app. From download to driving your Mac by hand is usually under a minute.
Download and open
Grab the latest notarized build from the download page and move Gatecaster.app to your Applications folder.
Grant permissions
On first launch Gatecaster asks for two permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security, then a relaunch:
- Accessibility — to post mouse, scroll and gesture events.
- Input Monitoring — to read the HID reports from the panel.
Permissions are mandatory and gate everything. If touch does nothing after granting, make sure you relaunched the app — TCC only applies the grant to a fresh process.
Pick your display
A numbered overlay appears on every screen. Tap (or press) the number shown on your touchscreen so Gatecaster knows which display to map to. Selection is stored by display UUID, so it survives reboots and reconnects.
Calibrate
Tap the four corner targets in turn. This maps raw panel coordinates to screen space. Calibration is panel-raw, so it’s independent of which display you mapped to.
You’re in
A 👆 icon appears in the menu bar — Settings, display selection and recalibration all live there.
Start at login
Enable Settings → General → Start at login. This uses SMAppService and only
works from Gatecaster.app (the bare binary has no bundle identity to register).
